Life Skills Teacher

MSAD60 is looking for a certified special education teacher to lead a life skills classroom for students in grade 4 at Knowlton Elementary School. This teaching position works with and supports students who have academic needs, behavioral challenges, life skills needs, etc. A typical day could include: supporting students in small groups with academic programming; supporting students individually as they de-escalate and process through their emotions; supporting students as they increase their independence with personal hygiene; etc. In addition to supporting the education of students , this position is an integral part of the Knowlton Elementary School Special Education Team. This team of certified educators and service providers oversees several education technicians; provides professional development opportunities to the whole staff; support and mentor new special education teachers to the school/district; and seamlessly support each other's needs and building needs throughout the day. The special education teacher would be part of a collaborative team working with Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and BCBA to create a variety of learning opportunities for students.
