Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Preschool Teacher to join our team at the YMCA Early Learning Center-Colerain, a high-quality, Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rated early childhood program. The Lead Teacher will create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes children's growth in all learning domains. This role is responsible for implementing curriculum, building strong relationships with families, maintaining compliance with state and SUTQ standards, and mentoring assistant teachers to support classroom success.
Duties
Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned with the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that encourages exploration and independence.
Conduct regular child assessments and document progress.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers.
Ensure compliance with ODJFS licensing and SUTQ requirements.
Collaborate with center leadership and participate in professional development.
Requirements
1. Must be 21 years of age with a High School diploma or GED.
2. Meet all licensing requirements under the Department of Human Services of the state and local governments.
3. Must complete and maintain current status in First Aid, Common Childhood Illnesses, Child Abuse Prevention, and CPR.
4. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities, and routines of the program, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level; physical education activities, field trips and swimming as needed.
5. Must possess visual, auditory, oral, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
6. Capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of an Early Childhood Care and Education program.
Nice To Haves
CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required for SUTQ).
At least 1 year of classroom teaching experience in a licensed childcare setting.
Knowledge of SUTQ standards and curriculum planning.
