Saint Saviour Catholic Academy prepares students from Nursery to Grade 8 for higher education. Saint Saviour Catholic Academy is searching for a dedicated kindergarten teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of effective practices within early childhood education. The candidate must deliver lessons that cover the concepts within kindergarten academic requirements as well as create a stimulating learning environment that encompasses our philosophy of educating the whole child. The position begins in September 2025, with a competitive salary based on experience. Requirements : Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and pass a background check. Applicants must possess a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or related field. Qualifications: Must demonstrate experience, interest and ability in working with young children and parents/guardians. Must exhibit a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children. Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development. Must demonstrate success in working as a member of a team. Must have effective and strong communication skills (orally and written). Must complete Diocesan Virtus Training Course including Code of Conduct and Background Screening. Must meet requirements of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/Bureau of Day Care. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (Master’s preferred) State certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education Physical Requirements : Be able to lift 25-30 lbs. Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety. Be able to supply a clearance of well-being, good health. Key Responsibilities: Faith Integration: Model and teach Catholic values, foster a classroom environment that supports the spiritual formation of students, and actively participate in the faith life of the school community. Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons across all core subject areas including Religion, Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Classroom Management: Create a structured, nurturing, and supportive learning environment with consistent routines and positive behavior strategies. Assessment & Differentiation: Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to guide instruction, meet the diverse needs of students, and track their progress. Communication: Maintain regular and clear communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives. Collaboration: Work closely with fellow faculty members, administrators, and support staff to support student growth and uphold the mission of the school. Professionalism: Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events; maintain appropriate licensure and certification.
