Position Overview:
Physical Education Teacher The Physical Education Teacher plays a vital role in fostering students' physical development, promoting wellness, and reinforcing the school's mission through structured instruction and engagement.
This role includes direct student instruction, collaboration with colleagues and families, and active participation in school events and initiatives. Key Responsibilities Maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment. Implement designated curricula with fidelity, including Direct Instruction (DI) and Core Knowledge (CK). Develop and document lesson plans and student progress consistently. Effectively deliver the Core Knowledge sequence and Physical Education objectives. Participate in ongoing professional development and school-wide training. Attend weekly grade-level team meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and staff meetings. Participate in IEP meetings as needed. Conduct weekly peer practice sessions (as designated). Report any curriculum or Special Education concerns to the Lead Teacher. Complete four progress reports and four report cards annually for all students in assigned classes. Conduct four parent-teacher conferences per year (two in fall, two in spring). Attend school events including “Back to School Night,” open houses, holiday performances, and the Senior Luncheon. Fulfill assigned duties including morning arrival, lunch/recess, and dismissal supervision. Adhere to and enforce all school policies and procedures. Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Teacher, School Director, Assistant School Director, Business Manager, or Professional Development Coordinator. Qualifications Prior experience in physical education or organized youth activity required. Must pass all required Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs) within one year of hire.
