Qualifications
The Infant/Toddler Teacher must be EEC Infant/Toddler Teacher certified and have at least one year of experience as a lead teacher in a licensed center.
- Work as a team to collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army. Attend and participate in staff meetings and other meetings that arise.
- Develop and implement daily curriculum. Submit your curriculum to the Infant & Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for approval at least two weeks before it is due, so you have time to make adjustments and prepare materials.
- Foster a nurturing atmosphere. Assure that a method of positive discipline is used at all times. Make sure that all aspects of the classroom are running smoothly; transitions, routines, nap time, health and safety procedures, etc. Complete progress reports for each child. Meet with parents to discuss their child's progress. Evaluate each child's needs and set appropriate goals. Complete daily journals for each child-a brief summary of how they were each day. Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment. Make sure the classroom is clean, the materials are stocked, and the door is locked at the end of each day.
- Observe the children in order to pick up on any developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs that may require special services or evaluation. Communicate with and brainstorm ideas with the Infant & Infant/Toddler Lead teacher to implement and address these needs. Complete referrals when needed.
- Supervise the volunteers, interns, and specialists in your classroom. You and your co-worker are in charge of your class. Volunteers, interns, or specialists do not have authority over you. Do not leave volunteers, interns, or specialists alone with the children. Be sure to communicate with specialists about what they are doing, progress they are making, and goals they may be working on with the children in your class.
- Assist The Children's Learning Center Administration and Salvation Army staff in ensuring that The Children's Learning Center continues to provide a high quality program to the families we serve. Be sure to voice your suggestions and needs about enhancing your work in the Infant/Toddler classroom with the Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher and Director. Work as a team player. Pursue activities to further your own professional development. Become familiar with and follow through with EEC regulations, center policy, and Salvation Army policies.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability. The Salvation Army is committed to providing reasonable accommodation for qualified job applicants, job candidates, and employees with disabilities to ensure they enjoy equal access to all employment opportunities and benefits of employment as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. EEO is the Law.
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
