Duration: 13 Weeks Shifts: Day and Evening, 8-hour shifts Duties: Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to formulary guidelines, verifying orders for inpatient units. Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining proper inventory levels and restocking automated dispensing machines. Provide drug information, clinical consultation, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy. Counsel patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, adherence, and self-administration techniques. Monitor patients' medication therapy for effectiveness and safety, identifying and resolving medication-related problems. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and medication safety programs. Maintain accurate documentation of medication-related activities, including clinical interventions, errors, and adverse reactions. Provide training and guidance to pharmacy technicians and interns, staying updated on new medications and pharmacy best practices. Participate in emergency response activities and disaster preparedness drills, assisting in managing medication supplies during emergencies. Education: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy required. Experience: Recent hospital experience required (at least 2 years of inpatient experience preferred). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy laws. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. License/Certification/Registration: Current license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy. BLS from American Heart Association
