About Company:
Cen-Tex Family Services, Inc. (Cen-Tex) is a private, non-profit agency founded in 1993. Cen-Tex receives grant funds to provide Early Head Start/Head Start programs in Bastrop, Lee, Fayette, and Colorado counties. These programs are administered by the Office of Head Start, Department of Health and Human Services and carried out through the Hearts of Texas Head Start Program.
About the Role:
The High School Teacher at Smithville CDC, SMH, plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal development of students in grades 9 through 12. This position involves delivering comprehensive and engaging instruction aligned with state and district educational standards to foster critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning. The teacher will create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and addresses diverse learning needs. Collaboration with colleagues, parents, and the community is essential to support student success and well-being. Ultimately, the role aims to prepare students for post-secondary education, career readiness, and responsible citizenship through effective teaching and mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject area.
- Valid teaching certification/license for secondary education in the applicable state.
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and curriculum standards for high school level.
- Strong classroom management skills and experience working with adolescents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive education practices.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.
- Background in student counseling or mentoring.
- Bilingual abilities or experience working in diverse cultural settings.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to various learning styles.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback.
- Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning and respect.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, counselors, and administrators to support student academic and social development.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student performance and behavior.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational best practices and subject knowledge.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
