High School History Teacher

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate history teacher to join our dedicated team of teachers at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. This specific position includes a few distinct classes, Global Studies Grade 9 Honors/Regents and Government and Economics for Grade 12.

Global Studies Grade 9 Honors/Regents

This survey course is the first part of a two-year program that follows the New York State syllabus for Global History and Geography. The course begins with an introduction to the essential elements of historical analysis, geography and the social sciences, which serve as methodological foundations for the study of ancient, medieval and early modern civilizations in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Chronology is occasionally suspended in favor of a broad treatment of the rise and fall of diverse civilizations. Women's studies themes appear prominently throughout the course. An honors section is offered for qualifying students. This course ends in a school examination standard to all sections of the course. U.S. Government/Economics

The study of Government will examine modern day elections, presidential decisions, legislative actions, and United States Supreme Court decisions. The study of Economics will examine concepts in macro- and microeconomics, such as scarcity, supply and demand, business organizations, labor, taxes, international trade, and the workings of the stock market. Application of these ideas culminates in a student project. These are semester courses.

Teachers will also be expected to serve as a homeroom mentor to a small group of students and to participate in grade level events such as the Freshman Family Picnic or Senior Prom. In addition, teachers can also participate as club moderators and mentors.

Position Requirements Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred Prior teaching experience, high school level history preferred Must be able to utilize educational technology (Chromebooks, Google Classroom etc.) and incorporate these technologies into their classroom delivery and assignments Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Ability to receive and implement feedback Skilled at communicating and working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectives
