*General Purpose of Position: *The Exceptional Student Education Teacher understands how students different in their approaches to learning; creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners; understands instructional planning and designs instruction based on knowledge of the discipline, student, community, and curriculum goals. The Vocational Coordinator demonstrates knowledge of content, students, instructional outcomes, resources, and instructional practices.

*Position Summary: *Under the supervision of the Principal, the ESE Teacher’s key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
1. Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with other professionals, parents, and students to create personalized education plans that address students' unique learning needs and goals.
2. Adapt Curriculum and Instruction: Modify curriculum materials and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring that all students can access and engage with the content.
3. Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction in academic subjects, life skills, social skills, and other areas as specified in students' IEPs.
4. Assess and Monitor Student Progress: Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor students' academic and developmental progress, adjust instruction accordingly, and document student performance.
5. Behavior Management: They employ strategies to manage and support students' behavior, often utilizing positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIPS) or other behavior management techniques.
6. Manage Classroom Environment: Establish a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior, social interaction, and academic engagement, implementing behavior management strategies and accommodations to address challenging behaviors.
7. Document Student Progress: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance, as well as anecdotal notes and progress reports, to track student progress, communicate with team members, and support data-driven decision-making.
8. Ensure Safety and Accessibility: Monitor the physical environment to ensure safety and accessibility for students with disabilities, including arranging furniture, equipment, and materials to accommodate mobility devices and sensory needs.
9. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work collaboratively with administrators, parents, and other professionals to create inclusive learning environments, address student needs, and ensure continuity of services.
10. All other duties as assigned by the FACE Principal/Assistant Principal.

*Education and/or Experience:*
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Behavioral Sciences, or other related fields is required.
· Must have appropriate teaching credential or certification or actively pursuing certification in accordance with FL 1002.33(12), Florida Statutes.
· Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities and/or persons with challenging behaviors is preferred.
· Training or experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is preferred.
· Training or experience with autism is preferred.
*Language Skills: *Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of an organization.
*Mathematical and Computer Skills:* Ability to perform basic math functions and effectively deliver instruction to meet the needs of the students in the areas of Algebra and Geometry. Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint are required.
*Reasoning Ability:* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
*Physical Demands:* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Additionally, the employee is occasionally required to run, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to support the safety and behavioral needs of our students. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move a maximum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Depending on the school and student population served, the employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of students and staff.
*Work Environment:* The work environment for this position is a school setting. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be exposed to students who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subject to occasional travel as required by facility needs. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Pay: $47,500.00 - $52,000.00 per year
