Position: Science Teacher
Location: Ferndale High School
Reports to: Building Principal
Salary: According to the Ferndale Education Association Master Agreement
Start Date: August 13, 2025 (2025/2026 School Year)

Requirements: Must be "highly qualified" under the No Child Left Behind Act Valid Michigan teaching certification with appropriate endorsement, DX or DI preferred Ability to relate to students, parents, peers and partners Prefer experience with team teaching Proven classroom management and organizational skills Duties and Responsibilities: Teach district approved curriculum, and provide evidence of student mastery of instructional content Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. Establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports Identify pupil needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans Understanding and implementation of New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Understanding of benchmark testing and the ability to use data to inform instruction Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day Create an environment for learning through interactive and attractive displays, centers and exhibits of student's work. Participate in professional develop activities both in-district as well as outside to enhance instructional effectiveness Record student attendance daily Onsite presence is required Other qualifications are also considered in the final selection of a person to fill this position.
