Lad Lake Synergy School partners with Milwaukee Public Schools to serve students reassigned for behavioral infractions. Our unique model welcomes students throughout the year, offering a structured, trauma-sensitive environment built on trust, belonging, and growth. At Synergy, every semester brings new opportunities—for students and educators—to reset, learn, and lead.
As a teacher at Lad Lake Synergy School, you’ll deliver education that meets students where they are—academically, emotionally, and behaviorally. You’ll craft lesson plans aligned to MPS curriculum while leveraging trauma-informed practices, cultural relevance, and restorative approaches. You’ll work alongside a committed team to support youth in their return to a successful educational path.
What a Day in the Life of an ELA Teacher Looks Like:
Design and deliver individualized and group instruction rooted in the MPS curriculum
Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom climate
Develop and maintain student education plans with interdisciplinary input
Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff to support achievement
Maintain accurate academic records and evaluations
Actively participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous improvement efforts
Support all students with care, consistency, and high expectations.
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree
Wisconsin teaching certificate: Required Licensed Area: Teaching License or Long-Term Substitute License
Preferred Licensed Areas: English, Language Arts
Previous experience serving students with diverse behavioral and emotional needs. 2 to 3 years of successful classroom behavior management experience.
Must deal with students positively and confidently; be equitable when working with a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population.
Able to adapt to change, be flexible, and be confident.
Must possess strong organizational skills, effective behavior management techniques, and exhibit good judgment.
