POSITION:   HEAD START PROGRAM PRESCHOOL TEACHER ASSISTANT LOCATIONS: Gerry Sweet Center, 351 NW 5th Street, Miami, Fl. 33128 When: Daytime, Monday thru Friday, 40 hours per week, hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm New Rate of Pay: $17.91 per hour *FCCPC Birth–Five or CDA Preschool certification required, or an Associate in Early Childhood Responsible for assisting Head Start classroom teachers in the care and development of children enrolled in an early childhood education center as well as maintenance of the classroom. Hours vary based on an as-needed basis. Assists in planning and teaching activities within the YWCA’s developmentally appropriate framework to encourage the advancement of children’s cognitive, social/emotional, physical and creative skills.

Qualifications

Requirements (describe the educational and skill requirements): High diploma or GED, and CDA/FCCPC certification required. One or two years of experience working with preschool children in a child care facility preferred, preferably in a Head Start program. Bachelor’s or Associate’s in Early Childhood Education a definite plus. DCF Child Care 45-50 hour training certificate in addition to VPK courses and 24 hours of continuing education each year thereafter; however, the YWCA reserves the right to increase hours of training annually. Red Cross First Aid certificate; certificate of good health and completed TB test. Required to have fingerprint and background check.
