A Special Education Teacher position is available to support elementary students in grades K-5 for the 2025-2026 school year, located in Cambridge, MD. This contract role begins August 18, 2025, and concludes June 16, 2026, with a five-day workweek.
The ideal candidate will be a certified Special Education Teacher experienced in working with diverse learning needs. You will primarily serve students with Other Health Impairments (OHI), Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Language Impairments. Your caseload will be fluid, typically supporting 10-15 students, most of whom are integrated within the general education setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instructional support and accommodations to students with special needs.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Monitor and document student progress toward academic and behavioral goals.
Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and growth.
Communicate effectively with parents, educators, and support staff to ensure consistent support.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification.
Experience teaching students with OHI, Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Language Impairments in elementary settings.
Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies.
Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and provide integrated classroom support.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
