Summary Description:
The Middle School team leader has the responsibility for coordinating and managing the operations of a grade level team. The Middle School team leader should be an effective facilitator, have strong interpersonal skills and be committed to collaboration with all stakeholders for the benefit of students. The Middle School team leader focuses on coordination of the grade level instructional program and collaboration among teachers across grade level teams. The Middle School team leader analyzes grade level and individual student achievement data to ensure that school improvement targets are being met. The Middle School team leader promotes and facilitates student and parent engagement. The Middle School team leader participates on the Leadership Team to ensure that all school initiatives are implemented. In order to support these additional responsibilities, they are provided with additional time and compensation. Physical Demands:

Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of grade level curriculum, assessment and instruction. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Understanding of the middle school child. Ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators. Strong skills in data collection and analysis of formative and summative data sources. Strong technology skills. Knowledge of and understanding of master schedule. Knowledge of Baldrige tools and practices. Outstanding facilitation, organizational and management skills. Excellent oral, written communication, facilitation and collaboration skills. This position requires the knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).
Education Training Experience:
Holds, from an accredited institution, a master^s degree or its equivalent in semester hours of credit or is within one year of fulfilling this requirement. Has had a minimum of three years of outstanding teaching experience, one year of MCPS teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching in middle school. Demonstrates excellent skills in working effectively with people. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be :Shall be selected by the principal and a team that will include teachers from the grade level team. (When the career lattice is implemented, team leaders will have to achieve lead teacher status).EVALUATION:Will be evaluated using the standards of Teacher Professional Growth :Meets the appropriate Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a middle school assignment.
