About the Position We are seeking a warm, collaborative, and nature-loving Co-Teacher to join our Microschool team serving Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. In this role, you’ll co-lead a child-centered, outdoor-based classroom that blends play, exploration, and Maine State Standards. Each day includes classroom prep, community-building, hands-on learning, and outdoor free play, all rooted in children's interests and the rhythms of the natural world.
Co-Teachers support academic learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, STEM, and the arts, while also nurturing social-emotional growth and modeling positive conflict resolution. You’ll document learning through photos and video, communicate regularly with families, and uphold safety protocols including first aid and Leave No Trace practices. This is a full-time, year-round position with teaching responsibilities during all winter vacation weeks aligned with local public school calendars.

Enthusiastic and proactive approach to supervising and co-teaching in an outdoor classroom
Excellent multitasking and organizational skills to support multiple children and activities
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, remain on your feet for long periods, and work outdoors for 8 hours a day in all weather conditions
GED or higher required; Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
Willingness to obtain and maintain current CPR and Adult/Infant First Aid certifications
Commitment to completing 30 hours of professional development training annually
