Are you searching for a workplace where a dedicated team of talented individuals comes together to serve our students?Job Description  We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team for a one-year teaching position at Sewickley Academy. The Fourth Grade Teacher is responsible for teaching mathematics, language arts, social studies, and the social curriculum to a self-contained classroom of up to 15 students. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with two grade level teaching partners and with specialist teachers. A creative, innovative, and dedicated teacher, this individual is passionate about teaching to the whole child, experienced in project-based learning, and interested in field trip planning, service integration, and extra-curricular availability. Knowledge of and teaching experience with a structured literacy curriculum in the upper elementary grades is preferred as is experience in teaching mathematics through investigation, exploration, and concept building. This skilled teacher fosters open and positive relationships among parents, students, and fellow teachers.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide effective and inspirational instruction in the implementation of the fourth grade curriculumCollaborate with grade level teaching partners and other faculty to provide a challenging, cohesive, mission-aligned experience for all studentsEstablish and communicate to students well-defined objectives and evaluation for each lesson, including related projects and activitiesMaintain an engaging and motivational environment in support of the school’s programs and initiativesCreate a structured, supportive, encouraging, and creative culture within the classroom and among the studentsLead parent conferences, manage frequent and effective parent communications, and partner with parents to ensure the success of every studentDemonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunitiesContribute to school life by sponsoring student after-school activities and serving on academic committeesRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferredMinimum of three years of classroom teaching experienceProficiency in the effective application of classroom technologyExceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skillsARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM?All interested applicants applying for this position should submit their resume, cover letter, and salary requirements. Sewickley Academy is committed to having a community where all members are treated with dignity and respect.
