QUALIFICATIONS :
Massachusetts Licensure as an elementary music teacher, required.
SEI endorsement, preferred.
Bachelor's degree or higher with concentration in Music Education, required.
Successful experience as a general music teacher at the elementary level.
Proficient music technology, piano/keyboard, and vocal/singing skills.
Proficient classroom management skills.
Familiarity with rubrics and assessment strategies.
Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Instruct students in general music.
Under the direction of the instructional leadership and in collaboration with grade level colleagues, develop curricular objectives and implementation strategies in alignment with the learning standards of the state curriculum frameworks.
Under the direction of the instructional leadership and in collaboration with grade level colleagues, design, implement, and revise curricular units as well as proficiency scales for standards/subjects.
Under the direction of the instructional leadership and in collaboration with grade level colleagues, develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught relating instruction to the needs of the students, curricular objectives, and state learning standards.
Implement a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student achievement and engagement incorporating a variety of methods such as Conversational Solfege, Orff, and Kodly.
Effectively advance excellence and equity in each class through instructional practices designed to meet the unique needs of all students, including those who are advanced, multilingual English language learners as well as the accommodations and modifications for students qualifying for a 504 plan or special education services.
Effectively employ classroom management strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate with teachers in other discipline areas to develop a positive and inclusive school-wide culture.
Evaluate classroom activities on a regular basis in respect to educational goals.
Maintain all attendance and grade records.
Accept supervision and guidance from the Fine Arts Department Head and Principal.
Attend professional meetings as required and scheduled.
Contribute to school-wide literacy planning and curriculum decisions based on current reading research.
Continue professional growth by attending meetings, seminars, courses, and other endorsed professional learning.
Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Department Head and/or Assistant Superintendent.
SALARY : In accordance with FEA Unit A contract
