Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Education or a related field
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsements in Bilingual Education and ESL or ENL
Proficiency in English and the target non-English language of instruction
Solid understanding of second language acquisition, linguistics, and cultural competency
Familiarity with WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards
Ability to administer and interpret language proficiency assessments such as ACCESS for ELLs, W-APT, or MODEL
Strong skills in differentiated instruction for multilingual learners with varying proficiency levels
Effective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and staff
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, Linguistics, or a related field
Experience teaching multilingual learners in diverse settings
Training in Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) or similar ESL methodologies
Experience supporting Special Education and EL collaboration for dual-identified students
Bilingual literacy development experience or training
Responsibilities:
Deliver English Language Development (ELD) instruction while supporting academic content in both English and students home languages in bilingual programs
Develop lessons aligned with WIDA standards and Illinois Learning Standards
Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction for English Learners
Administer language proficiency screenings and monitor student progress
Maintain accurate student records and create individualized language plans
Support parent engagement with communications in families home languages when possible
Advocate for equitable curriculum access and participate in MTSS, RTI, and IEP teams as needed
Assist in developing bilingual or dual-language curriculum and promote cultural competency
Stay informed on best practices in bilingual and ESL education through ongoing professional development
