An elementary school in Chicago, IL is seeking a qualified ESL Teacher for a contract position lasting the next school year (NSY). This role focuses on supporting English Learners (ELs) through effective bilingual and ESL instruction to foster language development and academic success. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Education or related field Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Bilingual Education endorsement and ESL or ENL endorsement Proficiency in English and the target non-English language of instruction Strong understanding of second language acquisition, linguistics, and cultural competency Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards Ability to administer and interpret language proficiency assessments (ACCESS for ELLs, W-APT, MODEL) Experience with differentiated instruction for multilingual learners Effective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and staff Preferred: Masters degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, Linguistics, or related field Experience working with multilingual learners in diverse settings Training in Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) or similar ESL methodologies Experience with dual-identified EL/Special Education students Bilingual literacy development experience Responsibilities: Deliver English Language Development (ELD) instruction supporting academic content in English and students home languages for bilingual programs Develop lessons aligned with WIDA and Illinois Learning Standards Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction for ELs Administer language proficiency assessments and monitor student progress Maintain detailed records of language development and assessments Create individualized language plans based on proficiency levels Support family engagement with communication in home languages when possible Advocate for equitable access to curriculum and services for multilingual learners Participate on MTSS, RTI, and IEP teams as appropriate Contribute to bilingual or dual-language curriculum development Provide cultural competency support to foster inclusivity Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices Promote home language development within bilingual programs Location: Chicago, Illinois (Elementary School Setting) Competitive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance (for eligible employees) as well as a 401(k) plan with company match are offered.
