ESL Intern or Volunteer Teacher Utah Valley Refugees a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Utah County, with its mission to relocate and help refugees and immigrants build new lives in Utah, we are looking for a committed person, passionate and willing to support our mission and the need of uprooted populations in Utah County.
Summary: As an ESL Volunteer Teacher at Utah Valley Refugees, formerly named Utah Community & Refugee Partnership Center, you will be expected to keep up to date with our lesson schedule. The lessons are fairly simple and do not take much time to prepare but you will be expected to prepare outside of class times. You will remain in close contact with our Coordinator, Jennifer, if there is ever a problem about class or making the schedule. You’re expected to be outgoing, flexible with teaching, able to speak publicly, and become aware of the needs of our students. They’re a fun group and they will want to become your friends as well as students.
Principal Responsibilities: Provide services to refugees including but not limited to:
Teach organized English classes
Set up one on one English tutoring sessions with refugees as needed
Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or GED. Associates degree or higher education.
Must be willing to help or have experience working with refugees, schools or community
Must be fluent in English and able to volunteer 2 - 4 hours a week
Must have patience, understanding, flexibility, and an unceasingly positive attitude
Must have a strong desire to improve the English langue skills of refugee students
Must be able to pass the background check (BCI)
