Position Overview
The English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher will provide targeted ENL instruction to English Language Learner (ELL) students across multiple campuses, with a focus on students at the Entering, Emerging, and Transitioning levels of English proficiency.
All of the instruction will be delivered in-person to ensure flexible scheduling with schools and to allow for student grouping based on proficiency level and instructional need. The ENL Teacher will collaborate with school-based Directors of Student Support Services to review students’ proficiency levels and develop service schedules.
In addition, the ENL Teacher will maintain regular communication with classroom teachers to align ENL support with core instruction and share student progress updates.
This position is based in NYC and requires travel to KIPP NYC campuses. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or leave the state of New York, your employment status may be reviewed and could result in separation from KIPP NYC. Please inform HR if you move or are planning to relocate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, create, and teach data-informed English as New Language (ENL) lessons that address the unique ENL needs of our students who are English Language Learners, focusing on students who are Entering and Emerging-level ENLs across grades K-12.
Constantly monitor progress of students and adjust instruction as needed in order to prepare students for success, while maintaining a high bar for rigor.
Communicate regularly about student progress with families and with school-based staff.
Work with Directors of Student Support Services to create a schedule that meets the needs of students and that works within the unique confines of each school’s needs.
Work in coordination with the regional Student Support Services team to analyze data and strategize toward driving outcomes for students.
Work with the Regional Manager of ENL Services to communicate about ENL testing deadlines, protocols, and data analysis.
Support with preparations for and execution of NYSITELL and NYSESLAT assessments.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher in Education required with at least three years’ experience working with ENL students.
NYS Certification in ENL, Bilingual Education, or other relevant area

Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 - $142,270 per year. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at the point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
