Milwaukee Math and Science Academy is an independent, public charter school on the near northwest side of Milwaukee in the Sherman Park area. We will have approximately 250 students in K4-8th grade for the 2025-2026 school year. We are fortunate to be able to cap the number of students in each class so teachers can build positive relationships with students while creating high expectations for significant academic growth. Early childhood classrooms are made up of 20 students each, early elementary classrooms contain 22-24 students and middle school classrooms range from 24-26 students per class.
Our school has successfully adopted the Success For All reading curriculum during the 2021-2022 school year and it has already had a significant impact on our students' reading achievement. Stemscope kits and online resources are used in 3rd-8th grade so students can learn through hands-on labs and experiments while also exploring the online portal. The Eureka math curriculum was adopted during the 2022-2023 school year. Our school is also expanding our music/technology program to include writing, producing, and recording music for our students. We focus on our students' overall health and fitness by offering fitness trackers, a health and fitness room, multiple sports, and afterschool clubs. All classrooms are equipped with a Chromebook cart for student use, along with a Smartboard, teacher laptop, document camera, and writing pad.
The highly qualified teacher for the position should: plan lessons that meet the individual student's needs and interests, implement quality instruction based on the core standards, have high expectations for their students, use quality assessments to monitor progress, and provide effective feedback to students and parents on a regular basis, use positive classroom management techniques and encourage students to maintain a high standard of classroom behavior.
Applicants should have experience and an understanding of students in an urban setting.
WI DPI Certification is required.
