Job Title: Elementary Music Teacher

Location: Three Creeks Elementary

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time. Pay is by contract based on the current teacher salary schedule.

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Elementary Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a love of music in students from kindergarten through fourth grade, developing their musical skills, and creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The Elementary Music Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and staff to promote musical education and appreciation.

Classification This position is classified as a full-time certificated position and is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees and the bargained agreement. Pay is by contract based on the current teacher salary schedule.

Reports to Building Principal

Key Responsibilities

Teach music classes to elementary students, including general music, vocal, and instrumental instruction.

Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and school goals. Create lesson plans that cater to varying skill levels and learning styles.

Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment. Manage student behavior and provide support to students as needed.

Organize and prepare students for musical performances, including school concerts, recitals, and other events. Plan and coordinate rehearsals.

Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments. Provide feedback and support to help students improve their musical skills.

Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student learning and well-being. Participate in school committees and meetings as required.

Stay current with best practices in music education and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Valid Indiana teaching certification.

Previous experience teaching music in an elementary school setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal and instrumental techniques. Ability to play piano or other instruments is desirable. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to engage and inspire young learners.

Enthusiastic, patient, and creative. Passionate about music and education. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

May include occasional lifting of musical instruments, standing for extended periods, and other physical activities.

Persons performing service in this position must be punctual in attendance each day to carry out the supervisory aspects of the job.

Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, manual dexterity to operate business-related equipment, and handling various materials are important aspects of this job.

Persons in this position will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
