To provide students with engaging and rigorous instruction in Economics and United States Government that promotes civic responsibility, economic literacy, and critical thinking aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Social Studies 7-12 or Government/Economics
- Strong understanding of U.S. government structures, economic systems, and current events
- Effective classroom management, instructional planning, and communication skills
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that align with TEKS for Economics and Government
- Foster student understanding of political systems, financial literacy, and civic engagement
- Use instructional strategies and resources to support diverse learning needs
- Integrate primary sources, current events, simulations, and technology into instruction
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and student growth
- Participate in professional learning communities, staff development, and curriculum planning
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Maintain accurate student records including grades, attendance, and documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal or designee
- Traditional classroom setting with standard school hours
- May require extended hours for tutorials, events, or professional development
- Regular interaction with students, parents, and school personnel
*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Minium Salary $65,000
*Remote work is not available for this role.
Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 07/15/2025.
