Position Overview: Sherman ECC seeks a passionate and creative Early Childhood STEAM Teacher to lead our dynamic Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) program. The role involves planning and executing age-appropriate STEAM activities that foster curiosity, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication among young children, ages 18 months-5 years.
About Sherman ECC’s STEAM Program: Our STEAM program is designed to build on what young children already know, offering hands-on experiences that inspire wonder, inquiry, and joyful learning across all five domains: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Children come to the STEAM classroom during the week, to learn with the STEAM teacher, in a dedicated fully equipped classroom, which is set for learning and exploration. Our outside spaces are seen as another classroom for the STEAM program. This class cultivates the Four C’s: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication.
Responsibilities: Plan and implement STEAM lessons for each classroom (toddlers-PreK) aligned with developmental stages, our core values, and Sherman ECC’s philosophy.
Facilitate scientific inquiry and provide opportunities and experiences for the children to foster science skills and build conceptual understanding.
Guide exploration using scientific tools (e.g., microscopes, cameras, engineering materials, measuring instruments, light tables).
Provide a learning environment that listens to the children’s ideas, encourages children to ask questions, plan investigations, record and discuss findings.
Set environment to cultivate the Four C’s: foster creativity, collaboration, critical analysis, and communication.
Document learning experiences through pictures and journaling for families and the school.
Collaborate with Sherman ECC team and families, participating in team meetings and parent engagement events.
Maintain a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Partner closely with Director of Early Childhood and Curriculum Director (Pedagogista) to create learning experiences that reflect best practices.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in early childhood education, education with science specialization, or a relevant field.
Experience teaching children aged 2–5, preferably in STEAM or inquiry-based settings.
Strong knowledge of early childhood development and play-based learning.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Enthusiasm for continual learning, creativity, and innovation in STEAM teaching.

Additional Details: Schedule : 20–30 hours per week which includes generous planning time, Monday–Friday. Flexible scheduling of 1-2 mornings and 4-5 afternoons teaching per week. Possibility of full time with additional teaching assignment.
Compensation : Competitive, based on experience.
