Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position. A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment. This position requires a pre-employment drug screen. This classification has a salary range based on the highest level of completed education and years of teaching or instructional experience. Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, and completion of requirements for teaching certification. Necessary Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Interim or professional Tennessee Teacher's Certificate is required. Overview Responsible for professional correctional teaching work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required at a correctional institution. The DOC Principal is over the academic education program at a correctional institution.
Responsibilities Monitors education building and maintains classroom discipline. Identifies needs of the student to ensure appropriate material is presented in the classroom. Coaches and mentors students toward reaching their highest academic potential. Implements Tennessee Department of Education approved academic curriculums in areas such as high school subject areas, adult basic education including literacy through General Education Development and special education for youth and adults. Administers educational diagnostic pre and post-tests for purposes of placement and monitoring achievement.
