Educational Program Overview
This virtual teaching position specializes in providing direct instruction to deaf and hard-of-hearing students through our comprehensive online learning platform. You'll utilize visual learning strategies and assistive technology to create engaging educational experiences while working collaboratively with families, interpreters, and educational teams to ensure student success.
Teaching Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized curriculum aligned with IEP goals and academic standards
Provide direct instruction using visual communication methods and assistive technology
Adapt teaching materials and assessments for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners
Collaborate with ASL interpreters and other related service providers
Implement language development strategies across all academic subjects
Facilitate virtual IEP meetings and maintain comprehensive documentation
Conduct ongoing assessment of academic progress and communication development
Provide family support and communication regarding student needs and progress
Program Specifications
37.5 hours per week including direct instruction and planning
Serve 35-45 students across elementary through high school levels
Individual and small group instruction utilizing visual learning strategies
Support students with varying degrees of hearing loss and communication preferences
Access to specialized curriculum resources and assistive technology
Flexible scheduling to accommodate diverse student and family needs
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or related field
Valid Kentucky DHH teaching license or eligibility to obtain
Minimum 2 years of school-based experience with deaf/hard-of-hearing students
Fluency in American Sign Language and knowledge of deaf culture
Experience with visual learning strategies and assistive technology
Strong understanding of language development and communication methods
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
