Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize various modes of communication including sign language, oral communication, cued speech, and assistive technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, speech therapists, and school staff
- Provide direct instruction in academic content and language development
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet evolving needs
- Support family engagement and offer consultation on communication strategies
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and all applicable educational regulations
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Valid Georgia teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Experience in school-based or pediatric settings highly valued
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
