Day Camp Music Teacher

Position Summary: The Day Camp Music Teacher is responsible for planning and teaching basic music curriculum to children ages 6 - 14 during summer Day Camp. The Music Teacher will work with other Day Camp staff to provide a safe and meaningful summer Day Camp Experience in a Christian environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate music lessons and activities for campers
Lead group singing, instrument instruction, rhythm games and music appreciation lessons
Teach popular songs, simple instrument skills such as percussion, ukelele, recorders, piano
Prepare campers to perform songs, skits or musical presentations during camp events or closing ceremonies
Ensure safety and supervision of campers while in music class, by following all camp policies and safety procedures, along with the assistance of their counselor
Prepare and clean meeting space before and after each class session
Attend all Day Camp staff meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Some college with a focus on music, preferred
Some experience in working with and teaching children
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Solid vocal and keyboard ability and/or other instruments
Ability to sight read music
Proficiency in choral and instrumental accompaniment.
Ability to teach music, keyboard and/or instrumental instruction.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
Willingness to learn new software as needed
Knowledge and ability to use sound equipment
Certificates and Licenses:
Complete Safe From Harm Trainer training, and keep current as needed
Complete First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days
