STATUS: Full-time Part-time
CLASIFICATION (FLSA): Exempt Non-Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provide administrative and clerical support for the operation of the project. Collaborate in the data collection, operational and programmatic compliance, and the reports process. Assist in the coordination of meetings, conferences, professional development and working on special projects.
TASKS AND DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Teach program course(s) based on schedule needs.
- Use a syllabus for each assigned course that contains the name and number of the course, a course description, the assignment schedule, a list of the student learning outcomes, the required textbooks, required tools and supplies, the evaluation, and grading procedures.
- Establish a safe environment conducive to learning in the classroom and/or laboratory.
- Prepare for class by working with the department head, program director, lead instructor, or director of academic affairs to select appropriate learning experiences as evidenced by the following: updating instructional materials such as handouts, syllabi, ordering supplies; reproducing of materials; and using a variety of learning modalities including instructional technology to augment instruction.
- Maintain course content that is current, well-organized, and related to course objectives and to student’s previous learning. Demonstrates knowledge in the following areas: institutional services and policies, library resources, and bookstore operations.
- Complete and submits required rosters, attendance documentation, and grades in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Maintain control of class during instruction as well as handles disruptions in the classroom/lab. All discipline is handled in a dignified manner.
- Demonstrate respect for students as individuals.
- Demonstrate accessibility in dealing with students’ needs both individually and as a group and communicate clearly to students.
- Demonstrate excellence in instructor performance as reflected by most positive responses on student evaluations.
- Counsel students with grades and attendance problems, refers students to tutoring and the counseling center, if needed
- Perform any other task requested by the supervisor.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED is required. A certificate, diploma, or degree in the field is highly desirable.
- At least three years (3) of teaching or supervisory experience in the field of construction.
- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
- Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Especially, must have knowledge and skills in basic construction, electrical and plumbing.
- Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. The position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. May reach above shoulder height or below the waist and lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday must be able to lift 15 pounds and use proper lifting techniques.
- Standing or sitting and speaking or listening are regularly required. Ability to use common office equipment such as computers, facsimiles, printers, calculators, etc. You are frequently required to drive motor vehicles.
