Behavior Support Special Education Teacher for Grades 3-5

Position Overview:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Support Special Education Teacher for Grades 3-5 to coordinate and provide direct instructional programs tailored to individual needs through their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). In this role, you will create a positive learning environment that fosters growth and development while adhering to all legal guidelines and ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IEPs for students with disabilities, using diagnostic information to inform necessary updates.
Employ various instructional strategies and adapt teaching materials to meet diverse student needs.
Monitor student behavior, promote a structured learning environment, and teach appropriate behavioral strategies.
Evaluate student progress regularly and adjust instructional approaches as needed to support individual growth.
Actively participate in IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on educational best practices.
Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including students, parents, and staff.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
North Carolina Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children teaching area (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
Valid motor vehicle operator's license in accordance with State of NC requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
First Aid and CPR certifications.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.
Working Conditions:
This position requires effective communication and the ability to work both in a classroom and office environment. You must be comfortable using office equipment and may occasionally need to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Your role will involve direct interaction with students, parents, and school staff.
