Compensation

We will pay you an hourly rate of $80 for teaching and $28 for administrative work.


About the Job

A Beged Kefet Teacher is a part-time position responsible for supporting students in learning modern Hebrew through the Beged Kefet curriculum, a structured program designed to develop reading, writing, and verbal language proficiency. The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the program’s educational goals, while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.


You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach weekly Hebrew language classes using the Beged Kefet curriculum, adapting instruction to meet the needs and levels of assigned students.
  • Create and implement lesson plans for each class based on program goals.
  • Submit lesson plans to Beged Kefet Campus Head and substitute teacher when absent.
  • Assign, collect and evaluate appropriate homework assignments.
  • Conduct intake & assessment of prospective students.
  • Maintain accurate up to date records and grades based on completed assignments and upload information to school website so parents can view status and progress of the student(s).
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with Campus Head to review lesson plan offerings, student progress and parent concerns.
  • Attend teacher workshops as needed.
  • Conduct orientation meeting with parents to review academic goals for the school year.
  • Work with parents if a child is struggling with class material to review concerns and identify a solution; involve Beged Kefet Campus Head when relevant.
  • Generate progress reports twice a year and communicate student progress to parents.
  • Support in the organization and hosting of several parties during the school year focused on various Jewish Holiday themes.
  • Post class summary documentation (feedback, photos, homework assignments and grades) after each class to keep parents up to date with school progress.
  • Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where every participant is treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner.
  • Represent the Shalom Austin in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform other services and duties, as required.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Teaching, Languages or Liberal Arts
  • 1-2 years’ experience teaching either in a school or camp environment
  • Fluent in Hebrew and have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Israeli culture
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (written and oral) in Hebrew and English
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when needed
  • Eligible candidates must be eligible to work in the United States


Additional Requirements

  • Position demands physical stamina, requiring being on feet during school hours.
  • Regular computers work with prolonged monitor viewing.
  • Routine office physical tasks, including climbing stairs and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Some off-campus work is involved.
