Automotive Technology CTE Teacher
Salary: Determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement
Full-Time teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year
Reports to: Building Principal (or designee)
Qualifications:
- Michigan Teaching Certificate with CTE Endorsement
OR if no Teaching Certificate, then 4,000 hours of paid recent (last 10 years) and relevant work experience in Automotive Service.
- Must hold the following ASE Certifications: Auto Maintenance & Light Repair (G1), Suspension & Steering (A4), Brakes (A5), and Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6).
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Essential Job Qualifications Required:
- Must possess excellent organizational skills, and technology skills, be detail and team-oriented, and have excellent communication skills
- Experience working with high school age students and diverse student population, preferred
- Experience working with software programs such as ShopKey and online student management systems, preferred.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Develop project-based learning experiences and effectively integrate lab equipment into student learning and assessment.
- Assign lessons and correct homework.
- Administer tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports informing parents of progress.
- Keep attendance records.
- Maintain a positive system of classroom management.
- Ensure a safe lab and classroom environment.
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and problems.
- Monitor the budget, determine equipment needs, and place orders.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Facilitate work-based learning experiences for students (field trips, job shadows, internships, job placement).
- Promote and market the Automotive Technology program.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to maintain composure and function effectively in a noisy, fast-moving environment and assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of students in that environment. The employee engages in physical management with students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others.
