Position Summary:

As an Assistant Teacher / Float, you will assist the lead teachers with planning lessons and instructing children in activities according to approved curriculum designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

Duties:

• Must enjoy working with all age groups
• Be able to work as a team and have a willingness to learn
• Assist with the organization and adherence to a daily schedule
• Adherence to all State and Discovery Point policies and regulations
• Communicate in a friendly, professional manner with parents, staff, and management
• Maintain a welcoming, upbeat, positive atmosphere in classroom
• Always maintain safety and cleanliness of the classroom

Qualifications:

• Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience
• Must be able to meet state background check requirements.
• Ability to obtain training in CPR/First Aid, Fire Extinguisher, Food Safety Handling, and other training required.
• Must be willing to obtain a minimum of 24 in-service training hours per year

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• DCF Transcript showing the following are completed:
  • Part I (30 hours)
  • Part II (10 hours)
  • Early Literacy for Children Birth to Three (5 hours)

Florida Teaching Requirements:

• DCF Child Care Facility Training Requirements

Experience Required:

• 1 - 2 years teaching experience
• At least 1 employment reference and 2 personal references
