Summary

Assistant Teacher – Hosanna Farm Childcare, Alexandria TN
We’re looking for a caring and reliable Assistant Teacher to join our nature-based Christian childcare team. In this role, you’ll support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. Responsibilities include assisting with daily routines, supervising play, helping with educational activities, and ensuring the wellbeing of every child in your care.

Duties

  • Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities
  • Supervise and engage children during indoor and outdoor play
  • Assist with classroom set-up, clean-up, and organization
  • Help children with meals, toileting, and personal care needs
  • Promote a safe, positive, and nurturing environment
  • Observe and report on children’s development and behavior
  • Follow all center policies and state childcare licensing requirements
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members


Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent (CDA or early childhood coursework preferred)
  • Ability to meet all Tennessee childcare licensing requirements, including background checks and health clearances
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, and be active with children indoors and outdoors
  • Willingness to complete required training in CPR/First Aid and child development
  • A genuine love for working with children and helping them grow


Nice To Haves

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a licensed childcare or early education setting
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and developmental milestones
  • Experience with nature-based or outdoor learning programs
  • Comfort working in a Christian, values-based environment
  • Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences
  • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish)
  • Basic computer skills for attendance, reporting, or parent communication apps
  • Food handling certification or prior experience preparing snacks/meals for children
