Basic Purpose: The purpose of this position is to assist the Teacher in the supervision of children ages 18 months to 5 years old and to assist in the overall daily run of the classroom at Booth Memorial Childcare Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assisting in creating a warm, orderly and clean environment to promote the development of children.
• Assist in supervision of children, paying special attention to health and safety of each child.
• Maintaining State Licensing Teacher child ratios of 1:4 or 1:8, daily
• Responsible for assisting in the care and upkeep of equipment and supplies.
• Assists in set-up and clean-up duties as required.
• Willingness to take directions from the Teacher
• Assist Teacher in completing all required State Licensing paperwork such as observations, assessments, DRDP, or other required paperwork.
• Other Related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications Requirements:

• Education Requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
2. Early Childhood Education units 6-9 required
3. Some experience with young children required
4. Child Care Center experience preferred.
• Skills, Abilities, and other Qualification Requirements:
1. Must be highly flexible in a fast-paced changing environment
2. Ability to interact appropriately with children
3. Ability to work with diverse groups
4. Ability to work as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
• Ability to reach overhead
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
