The Campus Laboratory School of Carlow University is seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate Art Teacher to lead the visual arts program for students in grades PreK through 8. The ideal candidate is committed to nurturing artistic expression, creativity, and visual literacy across developmental stages, while fostering a classroom environment rooted in respect, inclusivity, and student engagement. The Art Teacher collaborates with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and reflects CLS s mission of cultivating compassionate, curious, and principled learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design and implement a robust, age-appropriate visual arts curriculum for students in PreK through Grade 8 that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
Integrate cross-curricular connections with classroom content and thematic units when appropriate.
Foster student creativity while teaching technical skills, design principles, and art history in an inclusive and developmentally appropriate manner.
Create a welcoming, organized, and engaging studio environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks.
Plan and display student artwork throughout the school and organize schoolwide or community art exhibitions.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
Maintain clear communication with classroom teachers, learning specialists, and administration to support student needs.
Incorporate the use of digital tools, platforms, or technologies to enhance instruction and student expression.
Manage classroom materials, supplies, and budgets responsibly.
Participate in school events, faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning.
OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Experience teaching art across a range of ages, preferably in an independent or lab school setting.
Strong understanding of child development and ability to engage both young and older students meaningfully. Ability to integrate social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy into art education.
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Enthusiastic, reflective, and eager to grow within a collaborative school environment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Visual Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Art Education (K–12). All Clearances
