MISSION STATEMENT: St. Mark Catholic Preschool celebrates the tradition of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to all God’s people by word and action.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: To execute a daily program in line with St. Mark Catholic Preschool goals and beliefs for children 18 months through 5 years old.
PURPOSE: To provide a nurturing Catholic environment that strives to meet each child's spiritual and cognitive needs appropriate to age and ability to help students become faith-filled, well-rounded learners and thinkers.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PRIMARY TASKS:
Greet and assimilate each child upon arrival to school Provide a stimulating environment conducive to the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child on and individual basis Meet individual student needs and challenge all students by adapting instruction and curriculum Recognize and participate in the interests and needs children in the class Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of each child in the class Supervise children at ALL times Plan and implement Experience Early Learning curriculum in with lesson plans and coordinate necessary supplies before children enter into care Assist in planning and implementing special event programs Maintain records of developmental progress per age group Utilize program-wide technology to electronically communicate lesson plans, calendars, and other information to parents (ex. Imputing necessary information to Brightwheel software, etc.) Attend all staff meetings as announced Assist in other classrooms or areas of campus as needed Help with care of ill and injured children Follow program policies, procedures, and state licensing minimum standard guidelines Maintain cleanliness of gym and teaching equipment Maintain appropriate child interactions in accordance to state licensing guidelines Be available for parent conferences as needed or requested
Needed Attributes
Effectively work and communicate with young children and adults through oral, written, and electronic means Organizational skills for planning and coordinating curriculum, child and classroom management Ability to work with special circumstances such as behavior issues, children with special needs, parental relationships, staff differences Provide a caring environment to help each child grow in independence to develop his/her own unique talent and ability Possess a strong work ethic, practices punctuality and professionalism Must agree to background check Flexibility Positive attitude and enthusiastically promote St. Mark Catholic Preschool
Skill And Educational Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a high school diploma or GED Must have at least 2 years of experience in the child care field Must have teaching experience in preschool/early childhood Refer to the Archdioceses of San Antonio Employee Handbook for Policies and Guidelines
Organizational Relationships
Communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with St. Mark Catholic Preschool Director, St. Mark Catholic Preschool staff, and St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church staff Communicate with parents and children enrolled in the program Communicate and interact effectively/professionally/respectfully with Assistant Teacher
