This position offers the opportunity to work as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher within a K-12 school setting located in Lafayette, LA. The role is designed for the upcoming school year and is offered on a contractual basis. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to the needs of students with disabilities across K-12 grade levels. Assess the physical capabilities of students and create individualized plans that promote inclusion and physical development. Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate physical education objectives into students overall educational experience. Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed. Ensure a safe and supportive environment that encourages participation and enhances physical wellness. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in adaptive physical education. Desired Qualifications and Experience: Certification or licensure in Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education. Experience working with children and adolescents with diverse physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. Strong knowledge of adaptive physical activity methods and individualized education programs (IEPs). Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to motivate and engage students in physical activities that meet their abilities and promote health.
