Job Description:
- Teach literature, composition, grammar, and critical thinking skills to 8th graders
- Implement engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with Indiana Academic Standards
- Foster analytical reading skills through diverse texts and genres
- Develop students' writing proficiency across narrative, informational, and argumentative styles
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and literacy initiatives
- Maintain positive parent-teacher communication
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English Education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Indiana Teaching License with English/Language Arts endorsement (Middle School)
- Strong knowledge of adolescent literacy development
- Experience with workshop model teaching (reading/writing) preferred
- Passion for making literature relevant to young adults
