Required Professional Preparation and Experience:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Possess a valid Michigan teacher certificate for 6-12 in Health and Physical Education (MC or MX)
- Experience teaching students of various backgrounds
- Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience working collaboratively
- Basic understanding of inquiry-based instruction
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintain required student records (e.g., attendance and grades).
- Demonstrate consistent, effective management of student behavior.
- Possesses the skill and willingness to ensure that students' social and emotional needs are addressed.
- Consistently plan and engage students in active, student-centered learning activities aligned to State Standards.
- Create an inquiry-based culture of learning in the classroom which emphasizes student competency of essential academic skills.
- Develop student-centered lesson plans, instructional materials, and appropriate tasks, and provide differentiated and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the individual needs of all students.
- Demonstrates deep understanding of standards-based grading, data analysis, and differentiated instruction.
- A strong belief that building individual relationships is paramount to learning
- Believes relentlessly that all children have the capacity to be successful learners.
- Participate in all meetings as required by the school, district, or laws, to address student needs.
- Participating as an educational team member for the success of all students.
- Uses technology to enhance lessons and stay current with changing trends.
- Communicate, on a regular basis, with the parents and caregivers of students regarding achievement, attendance, and classroom behavior.
