Sandridge School District 172 is seeking a dedicated and reflective 6th Grade Classroom Teacher who will inspire, challenge, and support students in all core academic subjects. The successful candidate will be student-centered, data-informed, and culturally responsive, with a passion for helping students from diverse and historically marginalized communities succeed academically and socially. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality instruction in all core subjects including ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Differentiate instruction and implement accommodations/modifications for diverse learners, including those with IEPs, 504s, and English Language Learners. Create a positive classroom environment grounded in mutual respect, culturally responsive practices, and high expectations. Establish routines and classroom management systems that promote a safe and supportive learning environment. Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments; use data to drive instruction. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and behavior. Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level teams and across departments to align instruction and share best practices. Integrate technology into teaching to enhance student learning. Participate in professional development, school committees, and school improvement planning. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other assigned duties. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the building administrator. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from an accredited institution. Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education endorsement for grades K-8. Experience: Teaching experience in a public school setting preferred. Skills: Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Ability to analyze and use assessment data to inform instruction. Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and inclusive education. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions: Full-time, 10-month position. Classroom setting with occasional supervision duties outside of the classroom. May require occasional evening events, such as parent-teacher conferences. Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary based on the Sandridge SD 172 salary schedule.
