An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in grades 3 through 5 within an elementary school setting near Syracuse, NY. This position is part of a Therapeutic Day Treatment Program designed to serve students with severe disabilities and mental health challenges. Importantly, none of the students in this program exhibit violent behavior, addressing a common misconception associated with day treatment settings. Position Details: Assignment Duration: September 2, 2025 through June 26, 2026, with a possibility of starting in late August for professional development and training. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling approximately 35+ hours per week. Caseload: Up to 8 students, allowing focused and personalized instructional delivery. Location: Elementary school near Syracuse, NY. Responsibilities include: Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with significant disabilities. Collaborating closely with the educational team, including a dedicated teachers aide, program aide, counselor, and nurse practitioner. Participating in team meetings and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). Supporting students' therapeutic and academic goals within the classroom environment. Desired Qualifications: Certification or licensure in Special Education. Experience working with elementary-aged students, specifically in grades 3, 4, or 5.
