Title: First Grade Teacher
Compensation Range: $49K DOE
Schedule: Full-time, exempt position, typically Monday–Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings for events, meetings, and professional development.
Location: San Diego, CA
As Nazareth School – San Diego’s First Grade Teacher, you’ll join our vibrant school community where you'll inspire young minds in a supportive, faith-filled environment . You’ll bring learning to life through engaging lessons, technology integration, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
What You’ll Do:
Plan and deliver instruction aligned with California State and Diocese Religion Standards, incorporating Catholic values and teachings.
Create and maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs, using hands-on activities and technology tools such as Google Classroom and IXL Learning.
Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments; communicate results to parents via reports and conferences.
Collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents through newsletters, meetings, and conferences.
Lead daily prayers and plan class Masses , ensuring integration of spiritual development into the curriculum.
Fulfill additional responsibilities such as supervising students during recess/lunch, maintaining accurate records, and participating in professional development.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a related field.
Cleared California Credential, preferred multi-subject (or ability to obtain).
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic values (preferred).
Two or more years of teaching experience in an elementary education setting, preferably within a Catholic or faith-based school
Proficiency in developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with California State Standards and Diocese of San Diego Religion Standards.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
Expertise in differentiating instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
Ability to collect, analyze, and use student data to inform instructional decisions.
Proficiency in educational technology tools, including Google Classroom, IXL Learning, Accelerated Learning, Wonders ELA Program, and Sadler Vocabulary.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
Understanding of Catholic school philosophy and the ability to integrate religious teachings into the curriculum.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage time effectively, and respond promptly to communication.
